Before completing this form please ensure you have reviewed the description of the Techies in Residence programme on the Social Innovation NI website and are satisfied that it is a good fit for you and your organisation.
We would also recommend that you attend one of the information workshops being held across Northern Ireland in November 2018 – dates and venues will be posted on the Techies in Residence information page.
NB. If you wish to save a copy of your application, please copy your answers into a separate document before submitting. A copy of your application can also be requested via email@example.com
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday 7th December 2018.
Any queries should be addressed to Paul Braithwaite via firstname.lastname@example.org
In the first stage your applications will be screened for eligibility and fit with the Techies in Residence programme.
You will be notified by Wednesday 12th December whether you have been shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process.
Please note the following dates in relation to the next stages of the selection process – if you are shortlisted, attendance at all of these will be compulsory to remain in contention for final selection:
- Wednesday 12th December, Project Refinement Workshop (venue TBC)
- Thursday 10th January – Pitch Training Workshop
- Thursday 17th January – Final Pitching and Selection Panel
At the project refinement workshop you will have an opportunity to refine and resubmit your application following advice and discussion with Innovate NI and Community Foundation staff. The re-submitted applications will then be scored (see below for more information) and the highest scoring applicants will be invited to make a pitch to the final selection panel on 17th January.
Written application scoring:
The maximum score for each question is indicated in the form below – up to a possible total of 80 points. In addition, each application will be scored out of 20 for overall fit with the objectives and format of the Techies in Residence programme. As such the total maximum score available for each application is 100 points. We reserve the right to prioritise applications from a diverse spread of organisations and locations within Northern Ireland.
Following the final pitching and selection panel, successful organisations will be notified by Friday 18th January 2019.
The Techies in Residence programme will then formally commence with a residential on Tuesday 5th and Wedndesday 6th March 2019 – again attendance at this residential, by the individuals who will be chiefly responsible for project delivery, will be compulsory for all participating groups.
Terms & Conditions: Commitment to the project
TiR will require a high amount of senior management buy-in. The Community Foundation and Comic Relief are investing significant resources into the programme and our technical partners will contribute by making available senior members of their team to take part as the Techies.
As such we need to ensure that the VCSE organisations taking part are also committed to its success.
We require organisations involved in Techies in Residence to commit to the following:
Adopt a resolution at Board or Management Committee level indicating your organisation’s commitment to the success of the project
If applicable, host a senior technical expert (the “Techie”) as facilitated by the programme for a min of 10 weeks from March 2019
If required, provide a suitable working environment for the Techie and treat them as a senior member of your organisation’s team for the duration of their placement
Commit to working with Innovate NI and the project team to develop a sustainability plan for the solution developed between your organisation and the technical partner. This will likely include meetings with, and applications to, potential funders.
Identify a senior member of your team to act as project leader and take part in activities described here.
Identify a member of your Board or Management Team to take part in activities described here.
Take part in a 2-day residential workshop in March 2019
Take part in a full-day closing conference in June 2019
Take part in a minimum of 5 days mentoring support across the duration of the project
Participate in the creation of case studies and other shared educational content as may be determined by the Community Foundation
Take part in other marketing, promotional and evaluation activities as may be determined by the Managing Agent
